Pebbles Gallery WINNER of the NORTH EAST BUSINESS AWARDS 07 Cultural and Creative Business We would like to thank everyone at the awards who made this an incredible night.
The awards acknowledge the best businesses in the North East and highlight the dynamic people who work hard contributing to the economy. We are proud to stand along side such innovative companies.

"The North East is the best place to live and work and if you are thinking about starting your own business it also has a strong, friendly network set up ready to help support you."

...to Pebbles Gallery & Art Cafe, an exiting place to visit, work and showcase some of the best art and creative makers from Allendale and the Northeast. Originally the village co-op butchers shop this beautiful stone building was refurbished in 2006 to provide an art center that supports up to 15 creative businesses and over 21 independent artists who use the facilities.

Allendale Creative Artist Community Interest Company (CIC) is an Independent, Artist Lead Social Enterprise, it aims to encourage, facilitate and aid the establishment and development of creative practitioners.

The organization was set up in 2006 and has an office in Pebbles Gallery.

We are self-sustainable securing minimal funding to run events. We promote art, creative businesses & sensitive tourist development within the community by running an art gallery, retail outlet, café, workshops, training, a free youth project called "Come Out Of Your Shell", We network with other groups, offer business support, mentoring, skill sharing and we hold monthly art and cultural events through out the year.

We are now developing an online gallery and shop and are working hard on our expansion plans, that is to buy an Allendale Building for our community. As a Independent community organisatoin with a built in asset-lock everything we build in our community becomes a community asset for every.

At pebbles we have a large gallery where we exhibit work by artists with changing exhibitions through the year. The gallery provides not only an entire room to showcase work and meet visitors but also a space that can be rented for workshops and community meetings.

We have a real commitment to the young artists and business community of the future, With that in mind we run a free youth project, have a dedicated art gallery for young artists, that showcases work from individuals, local schools and youth clubs. We offer monthly workshops with lunch provided and we are able to provide a safe selling environment in which many of our young artists enjoy selling their work.

We encourage local business expansion, individual creativity, the opportunity to sell directly to the public and the public to be able to ask questions about our area and its traditional arts and crafts.

Situated in the heart of the Pennines, Pebbles Art Café is a prominent village shop in Allendale. This wonderful part of the countryside is steeped in history, tradition and has a wealth of talented people. We offer full disabled, wheelchair access to the ground floor area and all our information is in brail and large print.

When you feel like a rest we can also offer you refreshments, light lunches, tea, robust dark creamy coffee and dangerous cakes all freshly made, all served by the artists themselves.
